Alberta's 50 Most Influential People

What is influence? According to the Oxford Concise Dictionary, influence is a matter of cause and effect; of push and pull; to lead and follow. In this province, influential people help shape our view of business, politics, education, the environment ... even the rest of the world. In the best cases, these people exemplify courage, vision and leadership. They may hold unpopular opinions. They may champion unsung causes. But whatever they do, when Alberta's 50 Most Influential People wield their influence, things happen. They shape our province's destiny. 

In 1997, Alberta Venture published its first list of Alberta's Most Influential People. Since then, the list has become a highly anticipated annual feature, scrutinized and discussed and debated by Alberta Venture's 244,000 readers in Alberta, Canada, and internationally. In 2008 our 50 Most Influential People will again be featured in our July issue, and again we are calling on Alberta's businesspeople to bring forward nominees for this year's list.
