Edmonton, Alberta (Feb. 27th 2008) – Returning from Ottawa today, Ruth Kelly, president and publisher of Venture Publishing Inc., brings with her the Canadian Women in Communications (CWC) 2008 Woman of the Year Award. She is the first Albertan to be named the CWC's Woman of the Year and was presented with the award by the Honourable Diane Ablonczy, who is the Secretary of State (Small Business and Tourism) and a Calgary native.
"It's a great honour to be recognized as CWC's Woman of the Year," says Ruth. "It's an accolade of which I am truly proud and most importantly, it reminds me how fortunate I am to have had the opportunity to work with many talented and ambitious women."
Canadian Women in Communications is a national, bilingual organization that promotes the advancement of women in the communications industry. Judges for the Woman of the Year Award cited Ruth's professional success as well as her efforts to support other women in their professional and personal pursuits.
