Edmonton, Alberta (Jan. 8th 2008) - To match the excitement and growth of our province's economy, Alberta Venture magazine and KPMG have released their annual Fast 50 list honouring 50 of the Fastest Growing Companies in Alberta. The chartered accountants at KPMG tabulate revenue, assets and earning increases over a three year period to rank the top 25 fastest growing companies with revenue over $20 million and the top 25 fastest growing companies with revenue under $20 million. At the top of each list this year are Saxon Energy Services Inc and Pacesetter Directional and Performance Drilling Ltd, respectively. The rankings are featured in the January issue of Alberta Venture and the celebration culminates with an awards reception held at the Matrix Hotel in Edmonton on February 6th.
"Alberta Venture takes an active stance in promoting the accomplishments of Alberta's business community and the Fast 50 celebration is a big part of that," says Ruth Kelly, Alberta Venture's publisher and editor-in-chief. The rankings reflect the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit found throughout all of Alberta and feature businesses from Acheson, Canmore, Lloydminster, Medicine Hat and Red Deer, as well as Edmonton and Calgary. Representing the diversity of Alberta's economy, there are familiar names as well as newcomers from various industries such as oil and gas, hi-tech and construction.
The accompanying event celebrates the success of Alberta's Fast Growth Champions and provides a valuable networking opportunity for award recipients, event sponsors and local executives. "It's a way to say congratulations and thank you for moving Alberta forward," says Ed Mah of KPMG.
