Michael McCullough, wins inaugural Editor of the Year Award

Edmonton, Alberta (March 13th 2008) – Michael McCullough, editor of Alberta Venture magazine, has been named Editor of the Year 2008. He was presented with the award at the Alberta Magazines Conference, hosted by the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association (AMPA). The brand new award recognizes Michael as Alberta's top magazine editor as reflected by his ability to create outstanding published works through his resourcefulness, creativity and leadership.

The judges for the Editor of the Year Award cited that, as editor of Alberta Venture, "Michael McCullough gets out a monthly magazine that is always topical and excels at both content and style." They also praised Michael for his role as a mentor to young writers and editors and as a public figure with appearances on local media outlets such as CBC radio.

The 2008 Editor of the Year Award is presented by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and was given to Michael at the Alberta Magazines Conference Awards Gala on March 6th at Calgary's Red & White Club.

Michael's award is the latest achievement in an exciting year for Alberta Venture. 2007 marked the company's 10th anniversary, and most recently, publisher Ruth Kelly received the Canadian Women in Communications Woman of the Year Award and Vice President, Sales Anita McGillis was recognized with the Fellowship Award from the Advertising Club of Edmonton.
