Many people in Canada take water for granted. They assume that if you turn on the tap, you’ll get water. But Bob Sandford says our water abundance won’t necessarily last forever, and people may be finally starting to listen. He’s leading the discussion around water conservation in Canada through speaking engagements and authorship. Sandford is involved in many water organizations and research groups, including being the director of the Western Watersheds Climate Research Collaborative. He’s the chair of the Canadian Partnership Initiative of the United Nations’ “Water for Life” decade, and is the only Canadian on the advisory committee for the Rosenberg International Forum on Water Policy. 2013 is the UN International Year of Water Cooperation and with the Rosenberg releasing a report this summer, public awareness of water issues is growing. Sandford will be leading the charge on what can be done to preserve this resource.
